WrestleMania 36: Drew McIntyre is ready for WrestleMania 36, an event that should go down in the history of sports entertainment. A native of Scottish World Wrestling Entertainment will meet WWE champion Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36 this weekend – and in connection with the global coronavirus pandemic, this year’s event will be held in several places, including at the WWE Performance Center in Florida, with no fans in attendance.
WrestleMania 36 goes on air with pay-per-view, and WWE Network starts at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 4, and Sunday, April 5. McIntyre, who earned the title fight after winning the Royal Rumble in January, talked about his special journey to WrestleMania and told us why he was ready to become “the best guy in WWE.”
I do not feel too much pressure in this sense. Most importantly, I want to make sure that we give everyone the show (what), as you said, they will not forget. This is WrestleMania, which is so unique that people now need salvation, so I am proud that we are still moving forward and giving everyone WrestleMania. This allows us, performers, to entertain everyone in such difficult times, to be creative and think outside the box.
This is on us, and this is not what I perceive as pressure, although this is WrestleMania, and for the first time in my career I am fighting for the WWE title. I find this simply an exciting opportunity to show how good we are, how creative we can really be. When it comes to WrestleMania, we have some unique matches: AJ Styles (vs.) Undertaker in a Boneyard match, I’m sure will be crazy. There is a Firefly Funhouse match (between John Cena and Bray Wyatt). We will have several different closed sets. It will be everywhere. It will be like “WWE presents” Mortal Kombat. “
But then you get Drew McIntyre, someone who is not afraid to fight, not afraid to hit and get hit, and you have Brock Lesnar, one of the worst people who walk on planet Earth, a former two-time UFC champion. The story is quite simple: we are two big guys, we (each) plan to win, we are going to drop bombs. And usually the crowd went crazy, you couldn’t really hear the physicality. This time, physics will go through the screen. Everyone at home will feel this and hopefully get lost at the moment connected with my story, and I hope we can take them for a walk with pure physics.
CORONAVIRUS PROBLEMS: Roman Raines survivor of leukemia will not perform at WrestleMania. I look forward to meeting you and Brock to meet face-to-face in this setting, because the plot and assembly for this match are so effective and simple: you really are two tough guys who can fight very well, and undress you two on ring fighting for the title, I think that there is a potential for purity and cruelty, for which this setting can work convincingly.
A: I feel that way too, so you think so too. And I was very pleased with the way we built it. We do not need a complicated story. Sometimes I think we complicate things too much. If you are in the mood for the first time, you missed, maybe three weeks ago, you know what happens: we see Drew McIntyre, Brock Lesnar, two big guys, two guys who like to fight, two guys fighting for the title, it’s very simple.
And, as a result, it was such a unique assembly, because, as a rule, Brock Lesnar will destroy everyone he feels, every week leading to a big fight, and then at night (in the match) Brock Lesnar will win 80 percent of the time. Maybe someone will get quick on him, but it will not be dominant, and he will return, and he will crush them.
